In the discussion on 7th November, Lecturer claimed that the source of these fabrics is the fashion industry, for instance, closed down businesses.
Linen
Linen is one of the oldest fabric material in the world. According to Encyclopedia Britannica (2014), there was evidence of flax fibre found in a prehistoric cave. In ancient Egypt, linen was not only used for mummification but also as currency in some cases.
Linen is also one of the sustainable material because of biodegradability (Newman 2016).
The benefit of using linen: Moth resistance, ability to withstand high temperature, good absorbency, antimicrobial and fabric strength.
The negative side of using linen: High tendency to crinkle heavily.
